Dennis Lin accepted the SPES Award at JSM, the award formally "The Statistics in Chemistry Award" renamed in 2015 and given a more inclusive scope. The award recognizes Dennis' joint work "Mixture design and analysis of computer experiments for refinery reactor optimization" with the Industrial Statistics Group in Sasol Group Technology.
The new format of the award offers a slightly different focus in even-numbered years than in odd-numbered years. “In even-numbered years, the award is presented for distinguished work performed during the previous two years by a collaborative team of statisticians and practitioners in an industrial, manufacturing, or research organization”. This will make Dennis the first-ever winner in an even year under the new format! More details about the award at https://www.amstat.org/awards/spesaward.cfm.
