Mengzhao Gao Receives M A S Student Award
Each year the Department of Statistics recognizes the efforts of it most outstanding student in Applied Statistics. The award is open to all MAS students who receive their degree during a particular academic year (December, May and August graduates). All qualified nominee's will be reviewed by faculty members of the MAS award subcommittee, recommendations are then submitted to the Statistics Department Head for final review and selection.
The criteria for selection includes course work performance (in particular, performance in the Statistical Consulting Practicum course), leadership activities that enhance the student community within the department and a minimum GPA requirement of 3.7. Typically, one award will be made each year, although exceptions can be made for special circumstances. A certificate along with a cash prize is conferred to each recipient.
